This was a work project but it was still pretty fun. Even if it needed to be done yesterday. A pretty typical work project then i guess :P. The idea was to add a bunch of new features to a wood lathe and loosely based existing design style.
My part was to design pretty much the entire thing:
- In-built motor shafting, alignments and bearing location adjustments
- Front plastic HMI panel and keypad
- Rear controller enclosure and mounting
- Back panel
- Headstock lock down and indexing systems
- Tail stock. All components
Here are the first units off the production line at the factory in china and in shown at a trade show in the USA:
